How Hearing Aids Work

We believe every patient deserves personalized hearing care based on their specific hearing loss and their individual needs. That’s why we carry devices from all the major hearing aid brands. We will customize our recommendations to you, so you can hear and communicate your best again. Whether you are looking for Bluetooth hearing aids or a device that is completely rechargeable, we have an option for you.

How hearing aids work is broken down into a few steps:

1

The microphones pick up sounds.

2

Sounds are then analyzed by the processing chip.

3

Processed sounds are sent to the amplifier.

4

Amplified sounds are sent to the loudspeaker.

5

Sounds are transmitted by the loudspeaker into the inner ear, via tubing in an earmold in the ear canal, or via a thin wire to a receiver in the ear.

6

In the inner ear, sounds are transformed in electrical impulses.

7

Impulses are picked up by the brain where they are processed.
